Booking an Appointment 📅

Finding the right provider and locking in a time slot takes less than a minute. Here's everything you need to know about bookings on Aurora.

Finding the right service

Tap Explore and browse by category — Hair, Nails, Makeup, Skin Care, and more. You can also type what you're looking for in the search bar.

Use the filters to narrow down by your county and whether you want to visit the provider (Salon) or have them come to you (Mobile). Tap a provider's card to see their portfolio, pricing, and availability before deciding.

💡 Tip: Aurora is available in all 47 Kenya counties. The largest selection of providers is in Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, Nakuru, and Eldoret.

Salon visit vs. Mobile service — what's the difference?

🏠 Salon visit

You travel to the provider. The exact address is shared after they confirm. Good for services that need full salon equipment.

🚗 Mobile service

The provider comes to your address. You choose which of your saved addresses to use. May include a small travel fee.

Some providers offer both — look for the Hybrid badge. When booking mobile, make sure you've saved an address in Settings → My Addresses first.

Making a booking

Once you've chosen a provider and service, pick a date from their availability calendar, then select a time slot. If there are special instructions you'd like the provider to know (e.g. a specific hair product, access instructions for your building), add them in the notes field before checkout.

Review the summary, then proceed to payment. Your booking is only confirmed once payment goes through — until then it sits as a Draft.

What happens after you pay?

Your booking moves to Pending and the provider gets notified. They have a set window to confirm. Once they do, your booking becomes Confirmed and you'll get an SMS and push notification.

If the provider doesn't respond in time, the booking is automatically cancelled and you receive a full refund.

💡 Tip: Save the provider's contact info from your confirmed booking screen in case you need to reach them directly on the day.

Need to change the date or time?

You can reschedule a Pending or Confirmed appointment up to 3 times. Go to your Appointments tab, open the booking, and tap Reschedule. Choose a new slot from the provider's availability.

Each reschedule resets to Pending so the provider can re-confirm. If you've used all 3 reschedules, you'll need to cancel and create a fresh booking.

Cancelling a booking

You can cancel from the appointment detail screen. Refunds depend on how close to the appointment time you cancel:

💡 Tip: M-Pesa refunds usually arrive within 3–5 business days via Paystack.

What if I don't show up?

If you don't arrive and don't cancel, the provider can mark the appointment as a No-Show. A fee of 50% of the service price is charged to compensate the provider for the time they blocked. The rest is refunded to you.

If something comes up last-minute, always cancel in the app rather than simply not turning up — it's fairer to the provider and protects your account standing.
